The blue butterfly species Polyommatus (Plebicula) atlanticus (Elwes, ) (Lepidoptera, Lycaenidae) is known to have a very high haploid number of chromosomes (n= circa ). However, this approximate count made by Hugo de Lesse 45 years ago was based on analysis of a single meiotic I metaphase plate, not confirmed by study of diploid chromosome set and not documented by . The 4C DNA amounts of 23 native or alien angiosperms from South Georgia, or the maritime Antarctic, ranged from to pg (in 14 monocots) and from to pg (in 9 dicots). These values are within the ranges previously reported for these classes, but at their lower ends. It is suggested that the maximum DNA amount per nucleus and per diploid genome for angiosperms .
The stalk-like stamen is the male reproductive organ in flowering plants. The stamens are usually arranged around the carpel. An anther, which looks like a sac, is located on the end of the stamen filament and produces pollen that fertilizes angiosperm pollen is the male fertilization, the ovule turns into the seed while the ovary turns into the fruit. Overview. The angiosperm life cycle, in many ways, follows the basic life cycle pattern for land plants (embryophytes), with modifications characteristic of the seed plant habit (read more here).). As in other seed plants, the microgametophyte (male, or sperm-producing gametophyte) is highly simplified and called a pollen megagametophyte (female, or egg-producing, gametophyte.

We began new work to address this inreporting first DNA C-values for 25 angiosperm families in (Hanson et al.;Annals of Botany –). Here we report first DNA C-values for a further 25 angiosperm families, increasing familial coverage in angiosperms.
This plant book aims to help identify flowering plants to genus and family level anywhere in the world. In there are very few available works which are both comprehensive and up-to-date for.

A project on the chromosome survey of the flora of West Pakistan is in progress and chromosome counts of a large number of species from this region have been reported earlier (Baquar et al.).
The present paper is a part of this project. Morphological and cytological behaviour of 29 species distributed over 12 genera of the familySolanaceae have been investigated for the first.
To build the database, we surveyed the literature, on-line databases, and expert scientists to obtain species-level descriptions of the traits listed in Tables 1 and and2.
many species, data were obtained from the initial taxonomic description of the species or from subsequent primary literature about the species. Meiotic studies and chromosome data are imperative in order to have an overall germplasm evaluation of a taxon.
In the present effort, the meiotic study is carried out in 48 populations belonging to 26 species of Lamiaceae collected from their natural habitats in Kashmir Himalaya, which forms an important part of Northwest Himalaya.
Chromosome counts in the five species viz. Introduction. Plants with different chromosome numbers (CNs) are frequently found within the bounds of one taxonomic species (Friesen ; Chung et al ; Shukherdorj et al ).In angiosperms, the haploid CN varies between n = 2 and n =but majority of them show a range between n = 7 and n = 12 (Sharma ).Variation or constancy in the CN, within taxa of different.

Fossil angiosperm-like pollen from the Middle Triassic (– Ma) suggests an older date for their origin.
